EA Analytics is Energy Aspects' near real-time, high-frequency market data and analytics solution, formerly known as OilX. It combines nowcasting, satellite earth observation, maritime intelligence and AI-driven analytics to help traders, analysts and risk managers make faster, better-informed trading and risk management decisions. 

EA Analytics began by covering global oil markets across the barrel, and has expanded to cover gas, LNG, and power markets. OilX, (originally founded in 2018 by Dr Florian Thaler and subsequently acquired by Energy Aspects in 2023), pioneered a near real-time energy market platform offering sophisticated 'nowcasting'  capabilities, enabling clients to understand energy markets as they evolve.

EA Analytics is designed for traders, analysts and risk managers who need high-frequency fundamental data and analytics to understand market movements, price drivers and physical flows. 

EA Analytics currently covers global oil markets across the barrel, including crude oil, refined products, biofuels and NGLs, providing a near real-time view of global oil supply-demand balances for more than 160 countries. 

It combines near real-time market intelligence with daily-updated datasets spanning production, flows, refining, demand and storage. Further commodity coverage is planned.

Nowcasting is the core capability of EA Analytics for analysing supply-demand balances in near real-time, helping users track how supply, demand, storage, refining and trade are evolving ahead of official data releases.

It draws on earth observation satellite data for clarity on upstream output and storage, and near real-time maritime information for transparency on global trade flows.

The nowcast technology lets users see the evolution of all supply-demand balance components, and is already back-tested.

• Production: Global oil production by country and region, updated daily, including satellite-based daily oilfield flaring monitoring powered by ESA.
• Refining: Global refinery throughput, capacity and utilisation for all main oil trading areas, updated daily, plus future capacity additions and turnarounds based on proprietary satellite analytics.
• Demand: Global oil demand by product, country and region, updated daily, leveraging high-frequency demand indicators to nowcast end-use demand.
• Storage: Global oil stocks segmented into commercial and governmental stocks by country, satellite-based crude oil storage monitoring by terminal and crude quality, and daily crude oil floating storage measurements.
• Trade flows: Daily-updated oil flows between countries (or US PADDs or China provinces), regions or organisations, with global coverage across the barrel.
