Live Outage Detection
Fusing satellite-based train-level thermal imagery and daily flaring detection, backed by feedgas intake and shipping export data.
For Global LNG Research subscribers
EA LNG Intelligence extends your Global LNG Research subscription with near real-time, multi-signal monitoring across around 85% of LNG liquefaction capacity worldwide: thermal imagery, feed gas nominations, flaring and shipping signals combined. 98% detection accuracy. Under 20 hours. Independent of what operators choose to disclose.
LNG Intelligence in action
Here's what that capability caught in practice. On 21 September 2026, we published a call most of the market didn't have yet: new thermal signals at Qatar's North Field East (NFE) Train 1 point to early-stage utility testing, not liquefaction commissioning, indicative of continued delays to the start-up of the facility.
The thermal comparison below shows why. Train 2 displays the regular thermal signature of active commissioning; train 1 stays quiet across both dates, consistent with early-stage testing rather than start-up.
Construction telemetry adds another layer. Three of North Field South train 1's six liquefaction towers were erected by mid-August, progress we track continuously via satellite imagery, though NFS isn't yet showing the kind of thermal signals seen at NFE.
Commissioning-asset monitoring like this is currently ad-hoc analysis. Soon, subscribers will be able to track facilities like NFE and NFS themselves, directly on the platform.
How it works
LNG Intelligence uses a combination of satellite thermal imagery, feed gas nominations, flaring signals and shipping data to monitor around 85% of LNG liquefaction capacity worldwide in near real time. It runs on EA Analytics Earth Observation, our proprietary data layer powered by Kayrros, and detects outages, restarts and commissioning progress by individual train, not just by facility. Critically, it does not rely on operator announcements: operators have commercial incentives around maintenance timing, and this platform identifies disruptions independently, ahead of public disclosure. QatarEnergy LNG North and South capacity is currently running at 45% and rising, up 29% week on week, with train-by-train tracking of specific projects like NFE coming directly onto the platform.
