Dr Amrita Sen is the Founder and Director of Market Intelligence at Energy Aspects, a global research house that advises over 700 companies globally on energy markets and geopolitics. Amrita leads development of Energy Aspect’s views on crude, oil products, natural gas and carbon markets, as well as wider energy transition, policy, politics and macroeconomics landscape. She has led Energy Aspects to be recognised globally as the premier energy research shop, winning the Energy Risk award for Commodities Research House of the Year twice in the last 10 years, the latest one being in 2025. Energy Aspects has been ranked #15 in the Top 200 Women-Powered UK Businesses for 2025, with over 400 employees and 10 offices globally.
Amrita’s deep understanding of the complex relationships within the global energy sector, her wealth of industry contacts, and over 15 years of market experience enable her to have a unique perspective on international energy markets. She advises central bankers, OPEC+ energy ministers with close relations to the GCC, and CEOs of energy companies around the world. She is recognised as the pre-eminent voice on energy matters globally.
She holds a PhD from the University of London, an MPhil in Economics from Cambridge University, and a BSc in Economics from the University of Warwick. She was formerly Chief Oil Analyst for Barclays Capital and is frequently featured in leading media outlets. She has served as a research fellow at both the Oxford Institute of Energy Studies and the Atlantic Council and is currently a fellow at the Canadian Global Affairs Institute. Amrita is regarded as a leading authority on energy markets and is a sought-after speaker for company board meetings and top industry conferences. She is a champion of women in energy and has been awarded the Hart Energy Honouree Influential Women in Energy 2024 for her contributions to this sector.
