Dr Stephen Weatherley is the founder and CEO of Archipelago Expedition Yachts — a UK-based designer and builder of aluminium power catamarans. Operating from its yard in the UK, Archipelago delivers yachts ranging from 40 to 80 feet, combining hybrid propulsion engineering, innovative materials and technologies, and bluewater expedition capability. Stephen holds a PhD in Astrophysics, bringing a rigorous technical grounding to vessel design, systems engineering, and regulatory compliance.
Stephen also provides technical and engineering consultancy on low-carbon vessel fuelling with a particular interest in methanol. He has recently completed a UK-government funded innovation project on methanol-fuelled range extension for electric vessels and Archipelago is likely to be fitting methanol range extenders into their all-electric vessels from 2027.
