Judith Hartmann

Operating Partner, Sandbrook


Judith is an energy investor and board director, currently serving as an Operating Partner at Sandbrook Capital, an energy transition fund. She holds Non-Executive Director positions at Marsh McLennan, a leading risk management and consulting firm, Orsted, the world´s largest offshore wind developer, and Suez, now a private company, specializing in waste and water management.


From 2015 to 2022, Judith was at Engie, a global leader in energy and services, where she held the roles of Co-CEO, Deputy CEO, and Group CFO. Before joining Engie, she was the Group CFO at Bertelsmann, a major global media company, from 2012 to 2015. Her career also includes a 12-year tenure at General Electric (2000-2012), where she advanced through various senior finance and operational leadership positions within the healthcare and energy sectors across the USA, Latin America, and Europe. Judith's professional journey began at The Walt Disney Company in Paris.


Judith has served on the boards of several publicly traded companies, including Unilever, Suez, and RTL Group, as well as private companies such as Electrabel, International Power, Penguin Random House, and Gruner & Jahr AG & Co KG.


She holds a PhD in Economics (with honors) and an MBA from the WU University of Business Administration and Economics.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Judith is passionate about mountaineering, high-altitude climbing expeditions, including climbing Mount Aconcagua (6962m/22838ft) in 2025, skiing, biking, and painting. She has completed five marathons, and is a supporter of the Royal Opera of Versailles.


Judith's thought leadership and insights are highly sought after, and she has been a speaker at prestigious forums, including the World Economic Forum, United Nations Global Compact, and various business schools and industry summits.
